Today Faith and I discussed the logistics of the iPad survey that we would ask students to complete after their experience with the device in class. Faith provided us with a great survey for this task. Copy of said survey coming soon...
There are a few questions we would like to pose to the group. Please respond with your thought!
1. Will students take the iPads home or will all the reading be happening in class? If they go home, we must provide students with a charger.
2. Where will students be able to access the survey on Moodle? Create a "PLP Page"? Can we put it on one person's page and duplicate it for the other classes? Just have everyone enroll in one teacher's course where the survey will be?
3. Can teachers provide academic and anecdotal notes of students who are participating in order to have a general profile of participants?
4. Should we develop a survey for parents to help guage their willingness to invest in an additional device like an iPad for reading?
Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts!
Wow! You all are making a lot of progress! Just a couple of thoughts as long as we're thinking along these lines.
ReplyDelete--You may want to consider creating the survey in Google Forms. Moodle is course specific, but with Google Forms, you can share the link or embed the link in your own Moodle page. The results can then easily be compiled, or, you can copy the survey for individual class results.
--With regard to #4, let's see where your research leads. Have a look at this video: http://youtu.be/RmjB1EcYUxY An iPad and MacBook will be the two must have devices for students at the Avenues School . Dirk Delo, Chief Tech Officer, describes the rational for needing both an iPad AND a MacBook Air - a "1+1" model.
Thanks for the suggestion, Renee about a Google form - I had not thought of it! I think this is ideal.
